Having built a strong reputation as the drummer for Gangs of Ballet and currently performing with Matthew Mole, Klynsmith has embraced a new direction as a solo artist, songwriter, and producer. ‘Rescue Me’ is a personal track that has been years in the making, evolving through different phases of his life and ultimately culminating in an emotive and dynamic production.

“This song is a personal one for me,” Klynsmith said. “I wrote the verses a couple of years ago while I was living in Sri Lanka, but I struggled to find the right chorus. Later, after moving back to South Africa, the chorus finally came to me—of all places, in the shower. So, I love that this song is written from two very different stages in my life.

“Some songs just fall onto the page, but this one took time. It was a real labour of love. I don’t know how many times I broke it down and rebuilt it, but when I finally wrote the last word, I felt an immense sense of achievement, even though I knew I still had the mountain of recording and producing ahead of me.”
