Call for entries: Midemlab 2019
French music conference Midem is calling on innovative tech start-ups to apply for the Midemlab competition ahead of the industry gathering in Cannes from 4 June.
The application deadline is 20 March and start-ups can apply here. The finalists will be announced at the end of April.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be available to attend Midem if selected to pitch.
- A new company (less than five years old).
- Business-ready: already launched or in beta stage.
- Independent and not affiliated to a group.
- Genuinely original and innovative, with international viability.
Music start-ups can enter in any one of the four categories:
- Music creation and education.
- Music discovery and distribution.
- Marketing and data/analytics.
- Experiential technologies – VR/AR, high-resolution, Internet of Things and hardware.
The winning projects will get:
- Free registration and pitch onstage at Midem.
- The opportunity to find new business partners and key investors as well as get feedback on how to make their services better.
- Exposure and credibility in the music industry.
- Free legal and PR advice, free mentoring and a private meeting with Deezer’s CEO and Techstars Music,
- Free registration to Midem 2020.
A total of 20 finalists chosen will have the chance to:
- Find new business partners and raise funds.
- Pitch their music start-up and get recognition from the industry.
- Make sure the international press hears about their products.
- Get advice from tech and music pros.

Founded in 2008, Midemlab features the most promising international music tech start-ups that offer innovative solutions and help the music industry to build new consumer experiences. Since then, about 237 music start-ups from 31 countries have participated in the competition.
