Arts Growth Foundation to assist Ghana’s creative scene
A non-governmental organisation based in Accra plans to engage workers in Ghana’s art scene.
The Arts Growth Foundation Ghana (AGFG) seeks to stimulate the local entertainment and arts industry by capacity building for players in the scene. The foundation will also encourage the collaboration between artists of different fields.
Speaking at a recent meeting with the press, executive director of the foundation Chris Koney said, “Marketing Ghanaian arts extensively and building of synergies between Ghanaian arts practitioners and their foreign counterparts is very important to move our creative arts sector to the next level. Founded on the conviction that the arts and creative media can awaken and release human potential in profound and unique ways, we will not relent in our effort to achieve that.”
According to a statement by the foundation, it will assist in “fostering the integration of the arts in development and education" by:
- Establishing a global network for collaboration for members of the AGFG
- Looking out for initiatives that utilize the arts for developmental projects
- Fundraising for strategic projects by AGFG or its members
- Training for personnel of AGFG and its members
- Creating partnerships and serving the needs of like-minded organizations
- Seeking opportunities to increase awareness about the power of the arts in inspiring and releasing human potential
Artists, poets, spoken world performers and musicians, among others, are invited to take advantage of the opportunity. “The Arts Growth Foundation Ghana as a body is keen on establishing a dependable relationship among individuals, communities, artists, and organizations working to create vibrant and sustainable approaches to human prosperity,” said Koney.
