Accra to host first DJ expo in 2017
Next year will see Ghana’s capital Accra host the first Ghana DJ Expo.
The city already hosts another DJ event, the Ghana DJ Awards, which this year had by DJ Black as major winner. Both events will take place at roughly the same time so as to enhance the prestigious awards scheme itself that is entering its 5th edition by next year.
According to the organisers, the Ghana DJ Expo will set up “Ghana as an enviable destination for art, entertainment, DJ culture and music.”
Says Cynthia Ewli, Events Coordinator at Merqury Republic, organizers of the event: “This new event will offer platforms for DJs to get informed about new trends and get enlightened on key subjects including the music business, as well as grow the Meeting & Exhibition market segments related to music through an exposition.
“It is our ambition to grow this event into a world recognized annual exposition for the professionals and trade visitors within the international music scene.”
Scheduled to be held every year a day before the Ghana DJ Awards starting from 2017, the expo will integrate a trade fair, musical showcases, conferences, exhibitions and networking sessions which would promote the DJ culture and Ghanaian music. The Expo is specifically designed to expose Ghanaian DJs and musicians to the international market through the participation of DJs, music enthusiasts and professionals from other countries.
The anticipated expo would be the first of its kind to be organized in Africa, a melting pot of various cultures and traditions brought together through music showcased by top DJs. The expo is expected “to create a unique opportunity for exhibitors to connect with consumers receptive to music technology, services, and music culture and lifestyle brands.”
The expo will connect attendees with the world’s leading music resources to help guide those who DJ as a hobby as well as those who are serious about their careers and wanting greater success.
