Bio
Kwadwo Ampofo, popularly known as DJ Black (or The Toontoom), is a multi-award-winning Ghanaian disc jockey, radio host, and voice-over artist. He is widely regarded as a veteran and one of the most influential figures in Ghana's entertainment industry.
Early Life and Education
Background: Raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, before attending Ofori Panin Senior High School in Ghana.
Education: Holds a diploma in Public Administration Management and a B.A. in Mass Communication/Public Relations from the University of Ghana, alongside an M.A. in Media Management from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
Career Highlights
Radio: Began at Radio Universe (1997) before joining Joy FM in 2001, where he is renowned for hosting popular shows like the Open House Party and Weekend Warmer.
Performance: Served as the official DJ for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), performed at the 2011 Big Brother Africa finals, and acted as a judge for the Channel O Sprite Emcee Africa tour.
Business & Media: Founded Blaqbone International (2005) and the ToonToom brand (2010), specializing in creative services and voice-overs. He was named a DStv Ghana Social Media Ambassador in 2012.
Major Awards and Recognition
DJ Awards: Won the Best DJ in Ghana title at the Ghana DJ Awards for four consecutive years (2013–2016), in addition to Best Male Radio DJ and Best Scratch DJ honor
