Tunde Jegede

Bio

Tunde Jegede is a Classical trained Cellist and Kora Master. He learnt the Kora on apprenticeship with the legendary Kora Master Amadou Bansang Jobarteh from age 10. He went on to study at the Purcell and Guildhall Schools of Music, London.

His music has been performed by some of the world's finest Orchestra's, such as the Royal Philharmonic and the Brodsky Quartet. He is a strong believer in the parity between African Classical Music and European Classical Music. He leads the African Classical Music Ensemble, also featuring his sister Sona Jobarteh, one of the world's only female Kora Virtuoso's.

He was recently appointed Artistic Director of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Nigeria's premier Classical Music Society.
