Taymat
Bio
TAYMAT (meaning "Brotherhood" in Amazigh) is more than a band, it is a global ambassador for the spirit of the Bedouins and the powerful, soulful rhythm of the deep Moroccan Sahara.
The band's distinct sound was born from the passion of the founding brothers, Said and Ibrahim, in the small village of Imi-Nouaka.
The story began in 2010, when Said and Ibrahim, inspired by Desert Blues giants like Tinariwen, crafted their very first traditional guitar from humble materials namely, palm tree fronds and bicycle cables. This raw, grassroots dedication culminated in the official formation of TAYMAT in 2015, with the addition of the remaining talented members as Baha, Azeddine and Youssef. Despite periods of prolonged inactivity and hurdles that slowed our progress until 2019, the resilience of the brotherhood only strengthened our core message of peace, tolerance, and cultural pride.
The Sound: Global Fusion, Desert Soul
TAYMAT’s musical style is a courageous and unrestrained fusion, seamlessly blending the spiritual depth of Desert Blues with the driving energy of modern Rock. This unique mix creates a vivid sonic landscape that mentally transports the listener to the shifting sands, ranging from powerful, high-intensity performances to calm, meditative melodies. Singing in both Amazigh and Arabic, We shares the unique culture of the Zagora region and Morocco as a whole.
