Taneulong
Bio
Taneulong is an iconic Folk Music Artist from Bafut in the North West Region of Cameroon. His father (RIP) was a patron of the Neulong dance group (traditional band) in Bafut and hosted the group's meetings in the 1960s. Neulong is the Bafut word for music, music player, and also the name of a local traditional music instrument of the string family. Born in 1969, his father named him Taneulong ('Father of music"). Taneulong grew up in this setting to master various traditional and modern musical instruments.
He is a great folk author and composer with a highly developed feeling for folk medody. Taneulong is the author of Neulong and Mansoh, some the most popular folk songs in the North West Region of Cameroon to date. With over three decades as a cultural ambassador of the Bafut people,Taneulong was crowned Ta-La'ah Bukari (Chief of Bukari) in 2021, making him the King of Bafut’s representative and co-ruler of the people of the Bukari village in Bafut.
