Sylvestre NSENGIMANA
Bio
Sylvestre Nsengimana is a Rwandan artist known for his skills in poetry, theatre, writing, acting, directing, and producing. With a background in theatre, film, and cultural management, Nsengimana's work explores spirituality, human connection, and societal dynamics, with a focus on love, peace, hope, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. He graduated from the University of Rwanda/College of Business and Economics and has gained international recognition for his solo theatre performance "Brave, Muted," winning awards such as production funds from the African Culture Fund and being recognized as one of the global 100 artists changemakers by Artlink Switzerland. In 2018, he founded UMUT Arts, a creative company that aims to nurture emerging artists. Nsengimana's portfolio includes successful projects like the Rwanda Theatre Festival and his debut poetry collection "The Journey," known for its meditative quality and exploration of self-healing. He also released a poetry EP titled "MU RWANDA" in January 2024, celebrating Rwandan culture and legacy. He actively engages with learning platforms and has contributed to published works like "Les Plumes Semeuses de paix" in Bukavu, DRC, showcasing his commitment to peace and literary excellence, recognized by entities such as the Rwanda Writers Federation.
