Phyno

Bio

Phyno (real name Azubuike Chibuzo Nelson) is a Nigerian hip-hop artist. He started his music career in 2003 as a producer, while still a student of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, Nigeria.

After graduating, he went full time with his music career performing in clubs and concerts around Enugu. At the time his model in the rap scene was the Igbo rapper Mr Raw. Like him, Phyno began to rap in Igbo and relocated to Lagos.

His first encounter with mainstream attention came in 2010 when he recorded a remix to the song 'Multiply'. The song featured established artists MI, Timaya, Mr Raw and Flavour. It became a hit. Two year later, he scored another hit with the release of the single 'Ghost Mode' with Olamide.

'Ghost Mode', which was sung in Yoruba and Igbo mostly, solidified his position in the music scene, contributing to the rise of rap music in local languages. The song claimed the Best Collaboration category at the 2013 Headies. He also won Best Rap SIngle for his single 'Man of the Year'.

In 2014, Phyno released the album 'No Guts, No Glory'. The album birthed the songs 'Parcel,' 'O Set' with P-Square and 'Alobam'. He obtained an endorsement with Guinness, releasing a joint album, '2 Kings', with Olamide backed by the company. Ahead of a sophomore, he has released the singles 'Ezege', 'Yayo' and a few others.
