Aofolajuwonlo Adebukola, professionally known as Nkem ‘Bukola, is an Afro-fusion musician whose artistry blends Afrocentric sounds with the expressive depth of jazz. His music is a rich tapestry of rhythm, culture, and emotion, shaped by years of hands-on experience and continuous evolution.
Bukola’s journey into music began in 2000 as a drummer, a role that laid the foundation for his deep rhythmic understanding and versatility. Over the years, he performed alongside notable acts such as Eddy Remedies, King Sunny Ade, Jazz-6, Dapo Abe, and several others. These experiences not only refined his technical skill but also exposed him to diverse musical styles and professional stages.
Driven by a passion to expand his musical language, Bukola took a bold step in 2024 by learning the saxophone, adding a new dimension to his sound and performance style. This transition reflects his commitment to growth and artistic exploration.
As a songwriter, he has written over 15 tracks, channeling personal experiences and societal themes into his music. In March 2026, he released his debut 4-track EP titled Echoed Pain on Audiomack. The project features tracks such as Lost, E Go Better, Edi n m’ojo, and Ise Orin. Each song captures a unique emotional and cultural narrative, blending soulful melodies with Afro-fusion rhythms. Notably, Lost has also been released across all major streaming platforms, marking a significant step in reaching a wider audience.
