Bio

Neyma (born Neyma Júlio Alfredo, 6 May 1979) is a celebrated Mozambican singer and one of the leading figures in Marrabenta music. Widely regarded as a “diva” of the genre, she is known for blending traditional Mozambican rhythms with contemporary styles such as Kizomba, creating a sound that resonates across generations.

With a career spanning over two decades, Neyma has played a key role in popularising Marrabenta beyond Mozambique, earning recognition across the African music landscape. Her 15-year anniversary concert in Maputo highlighted her impact, featuring standout performances of songs such as “Kina Marrabenta” and “A Hi Dzimeni.”

Renowned for her vibrant stage presence, Neyma embraces her cultural identity through her signature “capulana style,” often incorporating traditional attire into her performances. She has appeared at major events including Vodacom Mozambique Fashion Week and Festival do Índico.

As an influential ambassador of Mozambican music, Neyma continues to preserve and elevate Marrabenta while connecting it with modern audiences worldwide.
