Manyasa Band

Manyasa Band is a Malawian music group formed by the late legendary musician Mtebeti Wambali Mkandawire. Manyasa Band's music style is rooted in Afro jazz, reflecting the groups vision for Malawian jazz. They released a Malawian jazz collection titled "Up and Down the Shire" with Wambali, showcasing their musical chemistry. The album , recorded at Joe’s Garage in South Africa by the Grammy and Emmy award winning music arranger and producer Joe Arthur , was widely acclaimed as a sound that showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Malawian people. After Wambali's passing in January 2021, the band went on hiatus but has since reunited to pay tribute to their late leader to keep his legacy alive and shine a light on the rich Malawian Jazz sound that the world has yet to experience. Manyasa Band has performed at the HIFA Festival in Zimbabwe, Oppikoppi Festival (SA) and headlined the Lake of Stars Festival in Malawi sharing the stage with African music legends like Hugh Masekela (RIP) and Oliver Mtukudzi (RIP).
