Lor
Bio
Uplifting, empowering, and raw, is a Cameroonian artist with an underlying gift to craft authentic lyrics derived from her experiences as a woman.
With influences from artists like Richard Bona and Erykah Badu, Lor discovered her passion for music at a young age. Art consumes her. Dance, songwriting, and theatre shaped her childhood - allowing a momentary escape from the harsh realities of sexism and discrimination that infect her country.
Fueled by a desire to inspire female empowerment and draw the attention on various social issues through the universal language of music, Lor fuses Hip Hop, Soul and R&B with Cameroonian rhythms like Makossa, Bend-Skin or Bikutsi to create a unique sound. Since the release of her debut project “Dawn”, her songwriting skills have been widely appraised.
She has performed on various stages such as the Salon International des Voix de Femmes d’Escale Bantoo 2022 and was selected for the CREMM – Babel Sound Festival 2019. She is a Black Girls Glow ‘22 Sound Residency Alumna and Dalai Lama 2023 Fellow.
