Liz Lubega

Bio

You can almost say music crept up on songstress Liz Lubega. Born in East London but raised in Uganda for most of her teenage years, Liz didn’t fully utilize her gift until she was back on British soil. Her diverse upbringing gave Liz a wealth of knowledge and experience under her belt compared to her peers. It was this knowledge and experience that would go on to shape her writing and passion for music.

In her late teens, Liz spent time in church choirs honing in on her ear for harmony and arrangement. She has since been responsible for numerous well-known hooks on albums in the UK Gospel scene, with some of those artists going on to win MOBO awards and nominations.
In 2016, Liz released her debut EP, "The Process," which garnered significant attention and support from the likes of BBC Introducing, with Emeli Sande herself has described Liz’s voice as “...beautiful velvet sounds”.

Her sophomore EP, "The Woman," released in 2020, reflected a more mature side of her musical journey with singles "No Good" and "Away" in 2019, showcasing her evolving artistry. Liz’s sound and inspiration are drawn from an array of artists such as Brandy, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill and Jill Scott which are which are evident in her rich vocal arrangements and soulful lyrics.

Beyond her solo work, Liz provides vocals for many prominent artists such as Childish Gambino, Ronan Keating and Yusuf/ Cat Stevens and more recently, the choir that performed at the Kings Coronation service in 2023.
