Jackie Ribas
Bio
Jackie Ribas is a powerhouse Brazilian vocalist and songwriter based in New York City whose voice transcends genres, borders, and generations. Born in São Paulo, Jackie began singing in church at just four years old and writing original music by age twelve. By her teenage years, she had already recorded two gospel albums and toured extensively throughout Brazil, capturing the hearts of audiences with her soulful, expressive performances. Her breakout moment came when she won one of Brazil’s most prestigious televised talent competitions, launching a career that would soon see her become a household name.
Jackie went on to work with Globo TV, Latin America's largest television network, as the lead vocalist of a celebrated all-female band featured on the long-running variety show Altas Horas. Over her seven years on the show, she toured nationwide, performed for millions, and collaborated with Brazilian music icons such as Gilberto Gil, João Donato, and Gal Costa. Simultaneously, she led her own independent band, performing throughout Brazil and developing a voice that blends gospel, samba, R&B, and jazz with an unmistakable Afro-Brazilian spirit.
In 2011, Jackie moved to New York City to pursue an international career. Since then, she has graced stages across the U.S. and Europe, including performances in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, London, Berlin, Paris, and Lisbon. In New York, she formed her own band and quickly became a staple of the city’s vibrant music scene, performing at major events including the inauguration of New Jersey’s governor and a private celebration for Hillary Clinton and family. Her 2013 performance at the Tap Dance International Festival was featured in The New York Times, cementing her reputation as a unique voice in the global music diaspora.
Internationally recognized, Jackie was invited to perform at the International Jazz Day Festival in Ghana for two consecutive years and was the only Black Latina vocalist to appear live at the 2025 NFL Draft, performing for over 600,000 live viewers. Most recently, in September 2025, she is slated to open for the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire as the lead vocalist of one of New York City’s most prominent live bands.
As a proud Afro-Brazilian woman and descendant of enslaved Nigerians, Jackie Ribas brings ancestral depth and social consciousness to her music. In 2021, she released a bilingual EP in English and Portuguese, followed by a deeply personal all-Portuguese EP in 2025 that celebrates her African heritage, fusing samba, jazz, Afrobeat, and soul. Every song on the EP was written and co-produced by Jackie herself, marking a new era of artistic and spiritual authenticity.
With plans to tour Brazil in 2026 and take her newest project—rooted in justice, Black identity, and vocal passion—to global stages, Jackie Ribas is more than a performer; she is a living bridge between past and future, Brazil and the world, rhythm and resistance.
