Genius Omuzira

James Kalyowa, known professionally as Genius Omuzira, is a Ugandan rapper.
He is known for his unique poetry, proverbial lyrical vocabulary, and clever wordcraft.
His passion for music started at the tender age of 4, when he used to sing for his father.
He also got the aspiration from his mother, who was a musical trainer.
Genius took part in school and church choirs, where he played roles like a singer and an instrumentalist.
In 2019, he made his debut in the Ugandan musical scene with the song "Twandibaddeki."
In 2021, his songs were ranked at the top of the boomplay charts for Ugandan music.

James Kalyowa was born on January 20, 2000, in Luweero District, found in Central Uganda.
He is the son of Mr. James Lukooya and Mrs. Sumiini Nakiyingi.
He grew up in Binyonyi Zone (Luweero) and Kikyusa Town, where he acquired some of his education.
Omuzira comes from a family of eight children, of whom two are half-sisters from his mother.
He is well-known for his songs like Weetunulemu, Virtuouso Freestyle, Twandibaddeki, Emize Gy'abayizi, Dunia, Tobikuliriza, Mic Check, etc.
He studied at several schools, such as Kiryamulondo New Hope Nursery School, Luwuube Umea Primary School, St. Mark Luweero Diocese Vocational Institute, Luweero Central Senior Secondary School, and Kikyusa High School.
In 2022, he moved to Qatar, from where he recorded some of his songs, like "Weetunulemu."
Genius has worked with both local and international music producers, including Carlos Gomez of Sin Nombre Studios Doha, who was the recordist for his "Weetunulemu" vocals.
Behind his stage name, he is also known by the moniker "King Jemcee," which he derived from combining the word "emcee" (his rapper persona) with his given name, James, an amalgamation that exemplifies a seamless blend of his artistic identity, embracing his roots and aspirations.
