Freedom De Dj

David Jim Mokoena, hailing from Etwatwa (Daveyton), was born on February 5, 1992, in Emaphupheni, also located in Daveyton.

His journey into music began alongside his big brother and his crew. Spending his childhood chilling with them and immersing himself in music ignited David's love for the art form. He was particularly drawn to the rhythm, flow, and metaphors within the songs, which captivated him deeply.

As he matured, David's musical tastes expanded to include deep house and blues music, further inspiring him to pursue music himself. Artists like DJ Fresh played a significant role in fueling his passion.

Since 2010, David has been actively involved in music. Alongside a friend, he formed a crew called Dtown Fire, which eventually led to collaborations with other artists and producers. Notable among them was a producer from J Lands Productions, marking the beginning of his journey in music production. The crew comprised members such as St*R, Siknal, J-Dore, Raptile, Venom Vee, and David himself, known as Freedom De DJ.

In 2019, David took a significant step forward by establishing his record label, initially named African Tribal Record and later renamed Deep Tech Entertainment after proper registration. Since then, he has collaborated with numerous artists, including Denis Gumedem, Papas-SA, Infinite Boyz, Docxine, Annah Mokoena, Mr. Clever, Kino Isaac, DJ Sliver, Vertex, NaphoniQ, and Deep. Alongside his work as an artist, David has also had the privilege of producing feature productions alongside renowned artists such as Rick Ross, Dizzy Wright, and Sean Kingston. Excitingly, he has a new production in the pipeline featuring none other than Snoop Dogg, set to release in 2024.
