As someone whose constantly working on mastering his craft, Eddy Strings reputation as a seasoned guitarist is only further cemented by some of the names he has graced the stage with. He has performed across the world opening for some of the top artist, being side man for acts like Phil Fearon,Noel Robertson, Lurine Cato, Vibez International Reggea Band,Allistair Isobelle,Ernist St Clair,Lukmaan Adams,Karen Kortjie and Donvino Prince.Playing at some of the top hotels and music festivals across the country and abroad.

Growing up in Cape Town,South Africa , Eddy would find himself experimenting with and being immersed in a range of styles of music. Through a combination of the influence passed down from his lineage of musical parents, and being inspired by the quaint but charismatic ‘big small town’ vibes of Cape Town, Eddy is carving out a niche for himself in the music scene.

His introduction to music began early with the recorder. Guitar would soon follow, as his heart gravitated towards becoming a musician. He would develop and nurture this skill at his local church. Inspired by the Gospel scenes and their rich ties to various genres, Eddy began his own journey.

Eddy is often booked for his strong work ethic and his easygoing nature but moreover his impressive abilities to think on his feet and his ability to complement any song. In his own words, he “selflessly serves the music always remaining in the pocket.

His guitar heroes include the ‘masters of melody’, Jimmy Dlu Dlu,Allou April and Ernie Smith. Their musically minded playing has outright left a mark on his style and capabilities, and it shows. On Acoustic , Eddy totes Freddy Arendse as the crème de la crème. Discovering his prowess at such a young age, Freddie serves has Eddy's introduction into the fingerstyle jazz stylings. Eddy can’t go without mentioning some of his favourite Rock/Fusion players – Eric Johnson,Joe Bonnamasa,Chuck Loeb,Dwight Sills,Carlos Santana and Pat Martino name a few.

Eddy's philosophy on music is that life is a box of chocolates you never know what you mite get. Depending on his mood and even the weather, you’ll find him listening to everything from reggae, to pop-rock, to jazz and more. To him it doesn’t matter, so long as long as it invoke emotion.
