BOU
Bio
BOU, born Justin Roger Ledimo on September 7th in Bloemfontein and currently based in Pretoria, South Africa, is a trailblazing musical artist pioneering a distinct sonic lane by layering sharp Afrikaans raps over heavy, infectious South African Kwaito beats. He officially began creating music at the age of 25 out of a necessity to hear a style of music no one else was making, drawing rich creative influence from local legends like Zola, HHP, DJ Cleo, Jack Parow, Teargas & Khuli Chana, and AKA. Guided by the artistic philosophy that he is never bigger than the music, BOU treats his songwriting as a vital time capsule aimed at capturing specific moments, thoughts, and emotions to make them last forever, offering listeners an entirely unique auditory experience rather than a traditional message. His production process is highly collaborative; whenever an idea strikes, he utilizes emotional reference tracks to build songs from the ground up alongside upcoming producers Nemesis CPT, S Cue, Brxdzito, zA, and Private Holiday, while also collaborating with emerging artists Pauly Rhymes, Dré Classen, Steviano, Lebo G, and Scue Wxrldwide. Since debuting in 2017 with his very first single titled "Soos 'n Meneer," BOU has built an extensive and diverse catalog that includes his mixtape Lewenslesse Virrie Ouens alongside a deep collection of EPs, namely Fleurtaal, Skaars, Boucoustix, DDM, Is Mos Festive, and his most recent project, Hoe Bedoel Jy Dan Nou. His high-energy live sets have earned him notable stage presence across South Africa, marked by major career achievements performing at the Smoking Dragon Festival in both 2022 and 2023, alongside memorable live sets at 7th Avenue in Eersterus, Kulvha Sundaze, and Black Labone. Beyond his microphone work, BOU channels his creative vision into multi-disciplinary hobbies including fashion, graphic design, running, occasional gardening, and video editing—a skill he is currently leveraging as he actively works on producing new visuals and music videos for singles off his latest release. Navigating the independent music journey while actively working to assemble a fully aligned, passionate team to help execute his global vision, BOU aims to capture as many moments as possible through his art and share them with the world while successfully making a living off his creativity over the next five years.
