Body, Mind and Soul

Body, Mind & Soul, is a 6 piece band that hails from Mzuzu in Northern Malawi led by Davie Luhanga, popularly referred to as ‘Street Rat’. Davie is the lead vocalist, Lusungu Msonda is the lead guitar, George Msukwa percussionist, Evans Makupe is in charge of the keyboard, McEwen Manda is the drummer, and lastly Michael Lusale is the man responsible with the bass guitar. The band was formerly referred to as ‘Souls of the Ghetto’, and played reggae music just like many local bands. The assemblage won several local awards namely the Kuche Kuche Music Award, Southern Africa InterRegional Festival (IRF) courtesy of Music Crossroads International. Davie and his group have participated in festivals such as the Lake of Stars and Hippy Festival. Body, Mind and Soul had its first international recognition in Zimbabwe when they won the Music Crossroads Southern Africa InterRegional Festival in Harare in May 2007. Apart from Zimbabwe, the group has made tours in Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia.
