Born in Limpopo and deeply connected to his Tsonga heritage, Musa Keys continues to carve out a distinct musical identity. Both ‘Cina’, a collaboration with acclaimed duo Murumba Pitch, and ‘Go Harder’ are performed entirely in Xitsonga. The tracks showcase his signature blend of melodic sophistication and innovative production, rooted in traditional sounds yet reimagined for contemporary audiences.
‘Cina’ draws inspiration from Gaza Township, a recurring motif in Musa’s music, and blends rich harmonies with Murumba Pitch’s soulful delivery. ‘Go Harder’, meanwhile, fuses tribal rhythms and Xitsonga musical motifs with modern electronic elements to produce a fresh, genre-defying sound.
Musa Keys has steadily emerged as a major figure in South Africa’s music scene. His global rise was catalysed by a Grammy nomination and a high-profile appearance as an opening act for American star Chris Brown during his South African tour. He has also received multiple nominations at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and South African Amapiano Music Awards (SAAMAs), confirming his influence in both the amapiano genre and the wider African music industry.
With Fresh Prince of Ka Gaza, Musa Keys promises to continue his artistic evolution while honouring the cultural legacy that informs his work. Universal Music South Africa has pledged ongoing support as he pushes creative boundaries and redefines the future of South African music.
