Barbara Wangui

Barbara Wangui is an alternative Indie-Soul singer-songwriter and instrumentalist from Nairobi, Kenya. In November of 2020, she released her first body of work: SHORTS. The 4 track labor of love that was recorded and self-produced in her home-studio has since found its way into the playlists and hearts of listeners all over the world. The project was inspired by grief, loss, hope and the complexity of life.

While her initial claim to fame was a YouTube channel founded on covers of songs that her audience requested, she has since grown into her own as an independent artist with a steady following of her original music. Wangui hopes to inspire conversations about the uncomfortable emotions in life through her art.

From starting a YouTube channel without her parents’ knowledge while in highschool to going viral on TikTok, Barbara has used social media to share her music with the world and meet collaborators along the way. She is currently voicing Calypso in EPIC the musical which has become an international sensation with over 300 million streams.
