Bio

Atemi Oyungu is regarded as one of the finest soul artists from East Africa. Atemi began singing at the age of 10.At the end of her secondary education, she and a group of friends formed an accapella gospel group called Thrown Together by Christ (TTBC) and were sponsored by Youth for Christ to go on a musical tour of Zimbabwe.

Atemi continued with the group until she joined USIU in 1996 and formed the singing and dance group Karisma. The group stayed together until late 1998 when Atemi and Natasha Gatabaki, also a member of Karisma, formed the group INTU and began recording with producer Tedd Josiah at Sync Sound studios. In 2003 Atemi joined Eric Wanaina as a backup vocalist.

She also featured with Nikki on 'Earth Song,' made for a UNDP project to clean up the Nairobi River.

As an unsigned artiste, Atemi’s sophomore album, ‘Manzili –State of Life’, was launched in March 2013 in Nairobi. The album is definitely her best work yet and was well worth the wait. The success of this album led her to be selected to perform alongside Grammy Award winner Anthony Hamilton in 2013.

Her work experience include Events Manager for Kahama Group Hotels, Events Director for PHAT Music & Entertainment, client service executive at Face to Face Experiential Marketing Platforms and studio manager for Kijiji Records. Her singles ‘Moyo’ featuring Tanzanian songstress Lady Jaydee and ‘Bebi Bebi’ was released in March and July 2015 respectively and have created great anticipation for her third album, which will be released later in 2016.
