African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA)

Bio

Hosted by the USA-based African Muzik Magazine, the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) aims to be a leading award ceremony in the African diaspora. It strives to create a platform that promotes the diversity of African music by bringing influential artists from different African countries to the USA for a night of celebration. AFRIMMA caters to all musical genres, including but not limited to Afrobeat, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous.

The first awards ceremony took place in July 2014 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas, one of the leading performing arts facilities serving the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The 2015 edition is due to take place on 10 October at the Black Academy of Arts & Letters in Dallas, Texas. It will be hosted by Nigerian comedian Basketmouth and Ugandan entertainer Ann Kansiime.

The AFRIMMA awards are not to be confused with the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
