Didier Awadi
Bio
Didier Awadi is a rapper from Senegal.
He is involved in the structuring of the musical sector in Senegal through his label, recording studio and rehearsal space, Studio Sankara.
In 1998, Awadi began to contribute to Dakar’s music sector with the creation of his first home studio Taf-Taf Productions. In 2001, he produced the one-hour TV show Senerap, which mirrored local hip hop culture, and two years later launched the Senerap International festival.
That same year, Taf-Taf Productions became Studio Sankara, a more formal and professional structure for music production actively producing advertising spots.
In 2009, as a joint initiative with music professionals and hip hop artists, Awadi organised the first edition of 72H Hip Hop, a three-day event celebrating hip hop culture through workshops, conferences, performances and exhibitions.
