Thandiswa Mazwai, Ringo and others to shine at Durban fest
The 2017 edition of Durban Jazz Festival will be held at the Hazelmere Dam in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, from 25 to 26 December. The event, which is in its 15th edition, will feature an array of contemporary, mainstream and Afro-jazz acts from around the country.
Rated among the biggest South African outdoor events, Durban Jazz Festival will kick off with the Gospel Under the Sky concert on 25 December which will feature performances from internationally acclaimed gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration as well as other local gospel artists celebrated nationwide.
Jazz greats such as Caiphus Semenya, Thandiswa Mazwai, Ringo, Jaziel Brothers, Amanda Black, Brenda Mtambo, Soul Kulture and Thee Legacy are expected to deliver groundbreaking performances on 26 December.
“Fifteen years later, we continue to enjoy massive support from the public, the music industry and its followers," Durban Jazz Festival project director Wanita Ngcobo said.
"This year we vow to produce an improved festival from the previous years, making the Durban Jazz Festival a family event that is highly anticipated by everyone.”
A Durban Jazz Festival press statement reads: “The festival will run over two days, and for the first time ever, we are offering corporates, businesses and other interested individuals the opportunity to pre-order corporate suites accommodating groups of 50 to 500 people, to corporate lounge suites accommodating groups of 10 to 40 people.
"These packages are available for any of the two days of the Durban Jazz Festival or both days. Moreover, we are offering an opportunity for an optional exclusive traffic free parking with complimentary boat shuttle.”
