Open call: National School of the Arts internship in SA
The National School of the Arts, School of Specialisation, is offering a four-month internship to four arts-leaning South African graduates from December 2024 to March 2025.
All applicants must be under 35 years of age and have a degree, diploma or an advanced certificate at NQF6 level. The successful interns will be involved in activities related to their field of specialisation within the four specialist departments: music, dance, drama, and art.
They will also be involved in preparations for the new academic year and the arrival of the new learners.
The school environment is a dynamic one and the interns will need to be flexible and creative problem solvers. Arts administration and support for the creative programme will be the key deliverables. In addition, all interns will need to work on an installation, production or exhibition during their time at the National School of the Arts.
A major focus in the four months will be assisting with the research on the history of the NSA and curating a gallery of alumni luminaries across the disciplines of art, dance, drama and music.
The internship falls under the Presidential Economic Stimulus programme, funded by the DSAC under the auspices of the National Museum in Bloemfontein and facilitated by the Art Bank.
The internship offers a modest stipend of R5 700 a month.
Those interested can e-mail their CV, cover letter, and qualifications to Brenda Sakellarides at sakellaridesb@artschool.co.za before 22 November or 25 November at the latest.
The successful candidates will commence their internship on Monday, 2 December 2024.
