Idols SA announces top 3
Idols SA contestants Berry, Karabo and S’22Kile will compete for the top-two spot of the music competition on 14 November. The participants made history by being the first top-three, female-only group of finalists in the reality show.
Kevin, the last man in the competition, was eliminated after failing to gather enough votes.
Performing three songs each, Berry, Karabo and S’22Kile showcased their talent and charisma in the running for the winner of the 17th edition of the contest.
Each contestant had their moment to shine, with Karabo wowing the audience during her first performance, where she sang ‘Hallelujah Mdumiseni’ alongside gospel singer Lebo Sekgobela.Unathi told Karabo that she had become more powerful as a performer every week, while guest judge Judith Sephuma said thta the Idols SA hopeful was a versatile singer.
S’22Kile got raving reviews for the hard work she put in, as well as her selection of songs. Abrahams commended her decision to sing Amanda Black’s ‘Mina Nawe’ for the cover song segment, while Unathi was pleased that she had decided to sing Doja Cat’s ‘Woman’.
Unathi suggested Berry stole the show, noting that she was blown over by the singer's Zulu during her duet with gospel singer and pastor Ayanda Ntanza. Abrahams said their performance of Ayanda’s hit ‘Basuka’ was a great start to the show, and commended the singer for choosing Adele’s ‘Easy on Me’ for the trending hit segment. Sephuma, meanwhile, said she loved Berry’s take of the Righteous Brothers’ classic hit ‘Unchained Melody’.
The three finalists will spend the next week recording their first singles with Kalawa Jazmee Records and a shopping spree in Cape Town . They will then return to the Idols SA stage to find out who will make it to the Idols SA finale.
