Blended Voices Choral Competition

The melodious spirit of Namibia returns to the stage as the Blended Voices Choral Competition comes back even bigger in 2026. Produced by the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) in partnership with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, as part of the NTN’s Main Programme, this highly anticipated second edition promises an exhilarating evening of music, unity, and artistic excellence. In addition to the competing performances, patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy a red-carpet reception at 16h00, an hour before the live competition staging and broadcast.

Following a spectacular debut in 2025, this year’s competition raises the stakes with increased prize monies of N$180 000, the return of crowd favourites, and an increased regional footprint now representing six regions across Namibia.

Following an audition phase, the 9 finalists choirs advanced to the final competition round at NTN. Competing choirs include:

  1. Ongwediva Youth Choir — Ongwediva, Oshana Region
  2. Lüderitz Youth Choir — Lüderitz , //Kharas Region
  3. Sion Youth Choir — Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region
  4. Opuwo Youth Choir — Opuwo, Kunene Region
  5. /Ae //Gams Vocal Ensemble — Windhoek,  Khomas Region
  6. Walvis Bay Ensemble — Walvis Bay, Erongo Region
  7. Namib Camerata — Windhoek, Khomas Region
  8. Atlantic Vocal Ensemble — Swakopmund, Erongo Region
  9. Opuwo Golden Voices — Opuwo, Kunene Region

Competition Format & Judging Criteria:

Choirs will be reimagining contemporary Namibian songs through compelling choral arrangements.

The competition will unfold in three rounds:

  • Round 1: All choirs perform the same prescribed song.
  • Round 2 & 3: Choirs perform contemporary Namibian songs selected from a pre-determined list.

An independent panel of respected choral music experts will adjudicate the performances.
