ASILI DUB’s upcoming debut EP is a conscious blend between uplifting & bluesy lyrics, melodic African, Taarab and Indian inspired guitar riffs, heavy steppin bass lines, Rockers meets Dubstep beats, & a touch of Pink Floyd inspired psychedelic exploration.

Having met in a Peace Festival in Mogadishu back in 2013, Kombo & Jahm came back to Nairobi to work with Dubstep DJ/ Producer Dread Steppa, on what soon became the heaviest rooted Dub band in the region.

The band has featured different artists throughout its existence. In early 2017, the band teamed up with Walter Mwangombe on keys, Morris Kivisi on drums, and Ras Lyon Hart on lead vocals to work on the band’s first ever release. ASILI DUB has since perform at DOA DOA International Music Festival 2017 (Kampala), Nyege Nyege International Music Festival 2017, opened for Mungo’s HiFi during their East African Tour and headlined Zanzibar Reggae Festival 2018, Alliance Francaise Nairobi Showcase (2019)

The band's heavily fused East African Reggae Dub sound is highly influenced by acts like Dub Dynasty, Black Uhuru, King Alpha, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Jah Shaka, & Salmonella Dub to name a few.

AFRO SIMBA was born from encounters between KOMBO and a group of coastal instrumentalists, Rabai Keyboardist – Walter Mwang’ombe, and Luiya Drummer Morris Kivisi, with the idea of exploring Modern Mijikenda Music, Mijikenda chants and Swahili melodies, Bantu rhythms, and their love for the pentatonic scale, which later lead to meeting a Kauma Percussionist – Bruno Mbaruku and a Duruma Bassist – Eddy Denah. Under the leadership of Kombo, the Nairobi based band developed a sound they call Mijikenda Fusion.

AFRO SIMBA is a nine-year-old Swahili Ska - Mijikenda Fusion band from Kenya that has toured Uganda, Somalia, Tanzania, Dubai and Washington DC to support and promote a vibrant East African Sound that they are part-of.

The band's debut album “Pandizo”, released in 2016, redefined & reintroduced Mijikenda music to present-time Kenya and the rest of the world.

AFRO SIMBA is currently in the studio working on their upcoming Swahili Ska EP.
