Spotify launches SongDNA feature to highlight creative collaborations in music
Spotify has introduced SongDNA, a new feature for Premium users that allows listeners to explore the people and creative influences behind the songs they play. The feature is currently rolling out globally in beta on iOS and Android, with a broader release scheduled for April.

SongDNA is integrated into the Now Playing view of the Spotify mobile app. By tapping the SongDNA card, users can view songwriters, producers, collaborators, samples, interpolations, and cover versions linked to a track. Listeners can also explore the wider network of creators by following links to other artists these collaborators have worked with, offering an interactive way to trace connections across genres and eras.
The feature is designed to give artists, songwriters, producers, composers, and engineers greater visibility. Spotify sources SongDNA information from artists, their teams, and community submissions, while eligible artist and label teams can review and manage the data through Spotify for Artists.
“SongDNA is designed to make a song’s creative lineage more transparent so fans can easily explore the people and influences behind the music they love,” Spotify head of songwriter & publisher partnerships Jacqueline Ankner said. “By bringing collaborators, samples, and covers together in one place, we’re making it easier for fans to discover new music and see how songs connect and come to life, while giving songwriters, producers, and rightsholders meaningful recognition for the role they play in creating it.”
The feature complements Spotify’s About the Song tool, which provides insights into the story behind a track. While About the Song offers context on a single track, SongDNA allows users to explore broader creative networks, highlighting the connections between songs, artists, and genres.
Spotify says SongDNA will deepen engagement between fans and the music community, offering a new way for listeners to discover music while ensuring recognition for the many contributors behind the tracks.
