The project, which he describes as a coming-of-age statement, follows his decision in 2022 to step back from the industry to refine his sound and business approach.
“I’m a perfectionist, I needed time to figure things out,” Spy Shitta said. “I’m not afraid to pause if it means I’ll get it right. In fact, I’m not afraid of anything.”
ShowBoy is structured to tell a story, beginning with ‘Son of Grace’, a track about faith, before moving into romantic themes with ‘If You Let Me’ and ‘Early Momo’. The tone shifts with ‘I Gotchu’, offering reassurance before heartbreak becomes the focus. The EP also features ‘Ayaya’ with Oxlade, ‘Izz Allowed’, ‘Nfana Ibaga’ and closes with ‘Iwaju’, which Shitta describes as a declaration of moving forward.
The release is accompanied by ShowBoy TV, a weekly visual series providing behind-the-scenes footage and creative visuals for each track. The EP blends ballads, love songs and motivational themes, reflecting both personal and artistic growth.
Born Omobolanle Abdulrasaq Shitta in Lagos State, with roots in Ogun State, Spy Shitta is known for his melodic voice and stage presence. He first gained national attention through a viral remix of Asake’s ‘Lonely at the Top’, and has worked with artists including Olamide, Lil Kesh, Bnxn, Oxlade and Reekado Banks.
ShowBoy is available for streaming and download on major digital platforms.
