Spotify integrates artist and label analytics in new interface

The move will give labels and distributors access to the Spotify for Artists app. Currently the app is targeted at artists and managers, while Spotify Analytics is aimed at record labels and distributors. The two services give access to similar data and analytics.

The revamped interface will create a centralised dashboard for labels, artists and managers, making Spotify Analytics redundant.

Now both artists and labels will have access to the same real-time data, and label teams will be able to manage artist profiles.

“Over time, as we’ve listened to feedback and seen how people use Spotify Analytics, it’s been clear just how collaborative artists and their teams are in analysing data and planning promotional strategies,” a Spotify blog post reads. "In an effort to empower artists, managers and labels to work together as seamlessly as possible, we’re bringing everyone together in one place: Spotify for Artists.

“Now, with access to the same set of data and insights, and the ability to join in managing an artist’s presence across Spotify, we’re looking forward to fostering better collaboration between teams, especially for artists signed to a label.”

The feature comes with a log of actions to document edits or changes to augment a team working on a profile. This includes actions like updating a bio or sharing a playlist through Artist Pick. Each team member will have their own activity page. Spotify for Artists users will continue to see data and insights, while labels will see data for recordings that they own the rights of.

No specific timeline for the change was given, but Spotify says labels that use Spotify Analytics should expect an email explaining how the shift will work over the next few months.
