REHASET

Bio

REHASET is a Saudi-born Canadian woman of both Ethiopian and Eritrean heritage. She became an independent artist out of necessity with a mission to bridge the gap between Afrikans and the world.

Her campaign officially began in Atlanta, Georgia 2003 where she closed the Ethiopian New Year’s Concert with world-renowned Ethiopian artist Tewdros Tadesse. Two years later, REHASET released a self-produced underground mixtape called The Dream Chaser. It showcased an eclectic mix of genres infused with her ‘third culture’ sound that captured the attention of her peers and local producers. Since then she’s been creating and performing in a multiplicity of cultural events, and has kept the integrity of her mission by lending her voice and activism to various creative and conscious community causes.

Since 2008, EHASET has been living and working in Toronto mainly as a musician, composer, facilitator, and actor. She is fascinated with the art of storytelling and her latest journey involves curating the annual Billie & Me live jazz showcase while developing her first Ethiopian Musical, Buna!

REHASET has now reconnected with a long-time collaborator from her Atlanta days, Mausiki Scales, to officially introduce her ‘third culture’ sound here in Canada and beyond.
