Radio Tumaini

Radio Tumaini is a non-profit community radio station run by the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Radio Tumaini was the first private radio station in Tanzania which started broadcasting in 1994, under Fr. Jean-Francois Galtier, who first conceived the idea of starting the radio, and became the first Director of the Station.

The station is located at St Joseph’s Cathedral at the junction of Sokoine Drive and Mansfield Street, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Radio Tumaini broadcasts cover five regions, namely Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Morogoro and Tanga. It is on-air for 24 hours daily. It broadcasts a variety of programmes ranging from religious programmes to News Bulletins, social and educational programmes, programmes on culture, politics and entertainment.

The audience is the whole Tanzanian community regardless of ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds.
