Nkosi Zondo

Nkosi Zondo is a multi-talented musician who began his music journey at Funda Community College in 2006, where he and other students, started live performance bands, namely; ‘Lethabo Kosa’ a marimba vocal band, Musi, a poetry/rap band and ‘On Stage’, a jazz inspired quartet. Zondo successfully taught marimbas at Sacred Heart College from 2009 to 2013. Through his leadership, ‘On Stage’ won the 2012 Puisano Live Jazz Band Competition regional leg, seeing them perform on some of the biggest platforms in South Africa, namely; The Standard Bank Joy Of Jazz, Johannesburg Arts Alive, Jazz On The Lake and many others.

His passion for music has led him into being a well-known musician in South Africa. And in raising his accolades in music, Zondo has worked with a variety of performers & musicians, namely; the late Mam' Sibongile Khumalo, Lesego, Zaza, Majola, Lebo Mashile, Sabelo Mthembu, Musa Mashiane, Presss, KB, Nathi Mankayi and many more. Nkosi Zondo is also a songwriter, arranger, band leader, music producer and director. November 2023 marked the end of a four year journey with Samthing Soweto as lead guitarist and band leader. Having successfully co-composed, co-authored on some of Samthing Soweto's titles like Omamabomthandazo, Telefon, iFridge and Fonele performed by Thee Legacy. 

Officially going solo in 2019, with the release of his debut EP titled 'UDumo', funded by the Moshito Demo Presentation 2017 Win. A 2020 single release titled ‘Till We Meet Again’ featuring Nombulelo ‘Vibes’ Dikamotse, dedicated to his friend ‘Bhekinkosi Soja Hlatshwayo’ who passed on that very year. And another 2020 EP titled ‘My Song_Iculo Lam’.

After well over 17 years of music experience in both live studio and stage performance, on the 3rd November 2023, Zondo released his debut album titled 'Bophelo Batho Pele'. As he is now focused on launching himself as a solo recording and performing artist; and one of the best in the world, Zondo is determined to release even more music and do live performance presentations in 2024.
