National FM was formally called Radio 3. It is owned and controlled by Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). ZBC is state controlled media stable that runs TV and radio stations. Its content is broadcasted in the country’s 15 minority languages such as Tonga, Venda, Sotho and Kalanga.
Its target is the rural audience which resonates well with the languages. It broadcasts 24 hours a day at 102.8 MHz in the capital Harare. Its coverage reaches about 60% of the country. It has been often linked to a community radio station since it broadcast in many languages.
