Masamba Intore

Bio

Born on 16 August 1969 in Bujumbura-Burundi, Masamba Intore is a traditional musician from Rwanda. He sings gakondo music. He is the second born in a family of eight children. He is one of the most celebrated singers in country who have been in the music industry for over 25 years. He gained fame through traditional songs such as ‘Arihe’ and ‘Nzajyinama Nande’. He is leader of Gikondo music group that is made up of artists such as Teta Diana and Jules Sentore.

He joined the then UB-40 music group at the age of 20. He performed in different cultural festivals like Festival de mataaf (Israel), Festival fort de France, Jazz festival during his time at UB-40. In 2007 he was voted the artist of the year in Rwanda. In 2009, he joined other artists in ‘Never Again’ song. He has done collaborations with some of East Africa's great singers like Wapi Ye and Kidumu.

Besides music, he is also a choreographer, songwriter and actor.
