Garrick

Bio

Garrick is a sound engineer from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Garrick studied sound design and optimization with the focus on large format sound system deployment. He has worked with such artists as Zamajobe, Stimela, Ray Phiri, The Jaziel Brothers, Sibongile Khumalo and Hugh Masekela. He toured the world extensively as Hugh Masekela's sound technician from 2009 to 2015. He has also worked in some of the most prolific venues in the world namely Carnegie Hall, The Sydney Opera House, The Lincoln Centre, The Hollywood Bowl, The Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Royal Festival Hall.

Since 2014, he has been doing sound for Gidi Culture Festival in Nigeria. Garrick has experience as a live sound technician in all types of venues from clubs to classical venues and outdoor concerts.

As a studio engineer, he has worked at Manic Media under Andrew Smith, digital cupboard under Ian Osrin and was a resident engineer at Pyramid Rox studios. He has a home studio which operates under the name Playsound.

Garrick has recorded and mixed albums for the following artists: Zamajobe 'Ndoni Yamanzi', Mavo Solomon - 'Isigidimi', Erik Paliani - 'Chitukutuku', Cameron Ward - 'So Much Joy' and Hugh Masekela - 'Phola'. -
