Binti Afrika (born Grace Iseme on 2 January 1981) is an artist from Nairobi, Kenya.
Binti music career began in the late 1990s with a group called Kreative Mynds behind the hit single 'Mo Fire', after which she worked with the famed PUnit before releasing her long awaited debut album 'Sauti Inawika' a fusion of afro beat, chakacha and r&b was released in January 2016 owing to a sabbatical that Binti took after being involved in a fatal car crash in February 2010.
In 2008 she was nominated for a Kisima Award in the Best Boomba Female. In 2012, Binti was awarded the Most Outstanding Coast Artist at the Coast Music Awards. In October 2015, she was invited to be part of the Mungo's Hi-Fi (Scotland) East African tour, powered by Bad Mambo KE. It was during this tour that Binti packaged her soulful, sultry Swahili tones on Mungo's heavy dub-reggae bass lines and Swahili Dub was born with the track "Malaika ft. Nazizi"
Binti went on to perform at the Nyege Nyege festival, backed by Douglas Paine of Mungos HiFi. In 2016 she was back headlining at Nyege Nyege festival backed by TuneDem Band Band.
In October 2017 saw Binti toured Oslo, Norway courtesy of East African Records.
Binti Afrika has graced many stages including performing at World Music Day 2018 at Alliance Francais, International Reggae Day celebrations at Distant Relatives, Kilifi, Kenya and again at the famed KilifiNYE 2019, giving her electrifying performances and stunning crowds with her amazing vocal prowess.
Her second album, in a reggae, roots and dub style, laced with Binti's swahili vibes, and which she fondly calls 'Swahili Dub'is due for release in May 2019 and she already has four singles from the album out, namely, "Access Denied", "Italfood", "Ready fi Chant", and lastly "All About Loving You" which was released on November 6th, 2018.
