Bana Bana Bantogwa

Bio

Miss Teedzani “Allah” Ntogwa is the founder and owner of Bana Bana BaNtogwa traditional dance troupe which was legally registered in 2009. She was born at Ramokgwebana in 1982, in the northeastern part of the Republic of Botswana, SADC, in the African continent.
She started dancing at a tender age whilst in grade one at primary school in Nswazwi village. Bana Bana BaNtogwa traditional dance troupe specializes in a consolidated mix of all Ikalanga dances comprising of Mokomoto, woso, maile, mantšhomani, ndazola, sangoma and Hosana.

The members of the group comprise mostly of underprivileged youth and orphans. The reason the group was formed was to promote Ikalanga culture through song and dance while at the same time encouraging these youth to be streetwise and get them used to being self-employed through arts.
Also, the group intended to preserve Ikalanga Culture, songs and poems through audio and visuals and archive them for future generations avoiding it to fade away.
The intention was also to keep youth away from drugs by keeping them busy and away from the streets which are full of drugs as we live in a fast-changing society in which drugs pose a serious threat to our youth.
To host big festivals to celebrate fashion and our culture through promotion of eco-tourism and content creation for mainstream television and social media in its entirety taking what we are as Batswana to the global audience while creating employment for the partakers in the project.
Through the project, it is Bana Bana Ba Ntogwa’s intention to make sure that they give back to the community and help in their development through musical projects that will bring economic changes in the lives of the community at large.
