Asakhe Cuntsulana

Bio

Asakhe Cuntsulana is a South African music teacher, song writer, isiXhosa language practitioner and published author of the poetry anthology 'Ikhwezi Eliqaqambileyo'. He is the founder of Ithala LeAfrika which offers community engagement interventions and inclusive transformation in both public and private sector as well as music scholarship in African instruments including marimba, djembe drum, kalimba and the African harp (Adungu).

He holds a Bachelor of music degree in ethnomusicology, music theory and vocal performance and currently completing his masters in music theory at Rhodes University. His interests are to pivot and integrate African music in both private and public schools of South Africa as a subject of choice to diversify the music offering.

He has been a headliner opening performer for the Grahamstown National Arts Festival and Ovation awards adjudicator in 2022. His musical performances are educative for conferences, provocative in transformation and suit for birthdays, weddings and seminars.
