Dawise – An Afro-reggae voice that takes you to a modern Afro-cultural universe.
The Senegalese artist based in Catalonia presents a vibrant musical project between afrobeat, reggae
and hip-hop, mixing African roots with Mediterranean culture.
Originally from Senegal and resident in Catalonia, Dawise is a singer, composer and guitarist who proposes a
mixed, conscious and deeply human music. On stage, he fuses the energy of Afrobeat, the committed sensitivity
of reggae, and the urban rhythms of hip-hop, all in an intimate and powerful format: voice + guitar, sometimes
accompanied by a percussionist with Mandingo influences.
His repertoire is composed of original songs, inspired by his African roots, his migratory experience and his
view of today’s world. Dawise also pays tribute to his homeland by reinterpreting Catalan classics such as Boig
per Tu (SAU) in reggae version, or Mediterraneo (Joan Manuel Serrat) in afrobeat. A unique way of building
bridges between cultures and making audiences of different origins vibrate.
With his first album «Smile Again» (2014) and the EP «JaySoul» (2017), Dawise has already stepped on numerous
stages in Spain and Europe. He is currently still active releasing new singles available on all platforms,
while preparing his next projects.
Between luminous rhythms, positive messages and a contagious energy, Dawise consolidates himself as an
emerging voice of the European Afro-urban scene.
