Pefoma music discovery app to launch in March
UK music discovery platform Pefoma on Wednesday announced that it would launch its app on 1 March.
The social media tool, which will be available to download on the Apple and Google Play stores, will give emerging musicians opportunities to connect with new fans and monetise audio-visual content.
The app will work as a one-stop-shop for unsigned acts to gain exposure to followers who are looking to discover new music. It will also create a virtual home for artists of all genres to interact with the fans.
Pefoma will be free for both artists and fans around the world, with no subscription models or in-app purchases to unlock extra functions. Artists will be able to upload music videos and monetise live performances to audiences on the platform, without the need for third-party payment or booking integration.
“This is the only social media app of its kind where fans can enjoy direct access to musicians and their content,” Pefoma founder Steven Arinze said. “The brilliant reality is that fans can follow as many artists as they like and show them just how much they enjoy their music through gifting the artist coins that will help them on their musical journey.
"For the first time ever, fans can truly feel part of their favourite artists’ story right from the very beginning, while the musicians themselves have more control over their brand than ever before.”
The company says it is the only known platform where artists earn all revenue generated from their profile, with no fees or deductions made when using the app. Fans will get access to exclusive content, which is not available outside of the app, while live-stream performances will include a comment feature where viewers can make song requests and chat with artists and other fans.
Followers can also choose from six gifting options, which can be used to reward musicians via the artists’ wallet.
The tool could benefit emerging artists, especially those who thrive in the live space during the pandemic. Interested users can sign up for the service here.
