Call for registrations: Free Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz workshops
African musicians, students and teachers are encouraged to register for free online jazz history and workshop sessions offered by the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz in California.
The registration is for anyone with an interest in jazz music and not just musicians. The institute will offer eight-session webinars that will be taught by the school's vice-president of education and curriculum development, JB Dyas.
Participants are expected to receive a greater understanding of and appreciation for jazz and its contribution to the US's diverse cultural heritage and civic life.
The classes are part of the award-winning learning resource, Jazz in America, which is an online jazz curriculum developed by the institute to give students a basic understanding of jazz as a musical form.
"Today, jazz is studied, performed and appreciated by people around the world, and has inspired countless other artistic styles and genres," the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz said.
"During these unprecedented times, we're here to help the students in your life stay engaged through jazz education. This summer, we're offering a series of live online educational activities to help students across the US and around the world learn about jazz – 100% for free!"
