Sizwe Yaze

Bio

Thulasizwe Yaze also known as Sizwe, born in East London 9 June 1989, raised in Port Elizabeth, where he started singing and playing bass guitar at the age of 12. His Christian religious background played a significant part in his passion for
music. From a young age, he took the path of composing and arranging for local a capella musical groups since his primary school days, during his time in Port Elizabeth.

Sizwe became a session freelance musician where he shared stages with
the likes of the late Zim Ngqawana and SAMA award winner Phumlani Mtiti. He plays bass guitar as a session musician for local bands. He was also in the Eastern Cape Youth Choir where his singing and ability to perform mature. After matric, he then moved to Cape Town to further his studies in sound engineering and production at Cape Audio College institution of Sound and Technology. He joined a gospel a ccapella group,
Selected Voices, which he helped produce a two 14 track debut albums. Sizwe is now establishing his singing career where in most recent of days has worked with the multi-platinum selling afro soul singer Nathi Mankanyi (Nomvula) as a backup vocalist.

Composing, writing and producing music which is deep rooted in contemporary afro neo soul jazz is the best way to describe Sizwe’s craft. In 2015, he entered Metro Fm’s Castle Milkstout Unplugged competition and was selected as one of 6 finalists out of 2500 entries and had the opportunity to work with the multi award winning band The Muffinz.
Mr. Yaze works to achieve prosperity through the many
mediums of the music-entertainment Industry, as a musician, co-producer through his creative abilities in the arts. Sizwe is in the process of recording his debut album of 10 tracks with the legendary Multi Award winning producer Lawrence Matshiza who is known for producing many of South Africa’s hit songs, from a range of well established artists. Whilst still trying to complete his album, he focused on performing at corporate events and festivals. In 2016 Sizwe founded a company called Kanda kul concepts with which he merited a Fruits of Democracy award in 2018 for projects & programs he introduced in the Arts & Culture sector of Gqeberha .

In 2019, he was offered an opportunity in Turkey to provide entertainment to 5 star hotels. He has been doing that for the past years, and as a result, the company he worked for won the best entertainment company GM 2019 award. His experience and affiliations in Europe birthed the idea of creating jobs for South African musicians abroad. He has now since been recruiting musicians to work in different agencies in countries such as Turkey & Greece.

After coming back from Europe he was appointed by the Mandela Bay theatre complex to serve in the music advisory committee and later got appointed to serve as music curator.
