Long Bio (EPK)

Delah Dube "Ms Calypso" is an award-winning spoken word artist, actress, and rising musician whose artistry blends Afro-soul, alt-R&B, poetry, and dance fusion. Her performances are known for their powerful vocals, thought-provoking words, and spiritual imagery, expressed through movement, costume, and stage design.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Delah brings together diverse media—poetry, music, theatre, costume, light design, and choreography—to create immersive performances. From commanding large stages with 50–150 contemporary dancers and contortionists at events like the Basketball Africa League Opening Ceremony and Kwita Izina Annual Ceremony, to curating intimate sets with incense, mood lighting, and personal artifacts, she is constantly exploring the balance between spectacle and intimacy.

Delah’s journey began in 2019, when she entered an all-girls poetry slam and won with her debut piece “Survivor”, a poem unpacking sexual harassment and charting a story of healing. The win led to a tour across girls’ schools, sparking her commitment to using art for advocacy and empowerment. That same year, she placed 3rd at the Intwasa Arts Festival Poetry Slam and 1st at the Albert Nyathi Talent Search, setting the stage for greater milestones. She went on to collaborate with Page Poetry Alive and the BBC Contains Strong Language Festival, further establishing herself as a force in spoken word.

Her relocation to Kigali, Rwanda, opened up a Pan-African stage. She has since performed at international festivals including Ubumuntu Arts Festival, Musika Na Kipaji Festival (Goma, DRC), and Sawubona Music Jam (Soweto, South Africa). In 2024, she reached new international audiences, performing with 80 musicians at Ethno Sweden, and later at Varia Theatre (Brussels), Celest d’Lyon (France), and the Karachi World Music Festival (Pakistan).

Delah is currently independently producing her debut EP, a follow-up to her single “End of the Line”, which explores themes of healing and self-actualization. Alongside her music, she continues to collaborate with cultural institutions, galleries, and community projects, curating spaces that prioritize artistic expression, wellness, and connection.

A visionary artist with a deep commitment to storytelling, advocacy, and creative direction, Delah Dube uses music, poetry, and performance as tools for impact—building bridges across cultures while staying rooted in the soul of her craft.
