YouTube TV launches customisable multiview feature for subscribers
YouTube has launched a customisable multi-view feature for its TV streaming service, allowing subscribers to watch up to four channels simultaneously on a single screen.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan.
The feature, which was first introduced in a limited form in 2023, is now being rolled out more broadly to subscribers on the main YouTube TV plan and the platform’s recently introduced genre-based subscription packages.
Subscribers will be able to create personalised multiview layouts using channels included in their subscriptions, including add-on services such as NFL Sunday Ticket. However, a YouTube representative said some family-focused content will not be available for multiview customisation.
The updated feature also includes interface changes designed to simplify content selection. Users can create multiview combinations through a staging area where programmes are organised into categories including films, television shows and recommended content. Users can access the multiview option through a dedicated tab within the YouTube TV interface and select up to four programmes to display simultaneously.
“Today, we’re officially launching fully customizable multiview on @YouTubeTV,” YouTube CEO Neal Mohan wrote on social media. “The new multiview builder gives you full control to mix and match live streams … and build the personalised viewing experience you’ve been asking for.”
The multiview feature was initially introduced in March 2023 with restrictions limiting users to pre-selected combinations of sports and news channels linked to events such as college basketball tournaments and NFL coverage. The company later expanded the feature to include permanent multiview options featuring news, business and weather programming, before adding selected entertainment content in 2025.
Earlier this month, YouTube demonstrated the latest version of the feature during the Coachella festival.
The standard YouTube TV subscription currently costs $82.99 per month and offers access to more than 100 channels, including local broadcasts from ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.
