The contest brought together 16 freestyle dancers from across the country, competing in one-on-one battles. The format relies on crowd voting rather than judges, with participants performing without choreography to randomly selected music.
Davids said the win followed a period of focused preparation after a previous loss at the national finals. “I just want to thank God for this win. I hope I will be able to represent South Africa well in Switzerland,” he said after the announcement.
The event, hosted in Bloemfontein for the first time, drew a large audience, with spectators actively participating in deciding the outcome of each round. The atmosphere was marked by continuous crowd engagement, with reactions to each performance influencing the progression of the competition.
The programme also featured performances by local and national artists, including Stallionair, Stino Le Thwenny, Cowboii, DJ Tshegu and Justin99, alongside a showcase by former participants.
Among the competitors was defending champion Mason “Beasty” Booysen, who won the 2024 title and represented South Africa internationally. He returned to the national stage but was not successful in retaining the title, as newer entrants advanced through the rounds.
Louie-V, who finished as runner-up, described the final as competitive and acknowledged the role of the audience. “It was a tough competition between Delron and I. I tried my best, but we could only have one winner,” he said.
Davids will represent South Africa at the world final of the competition, scheduled to take place in Zurich, Switzerland, on 24 October 2026. The international event brings together national champions from various countries in a similar freestyle, crowd-judged format.
The competition is part of a global series that focuses on improvisational street dance styles, with outcomes determined entirely by audience response rather than a judging panel.
